About me

Hi! I'm Dr Sarah. I'm a Brisbane based General Practitioner. I am passionate about empowering my patients to take control of their own health and wellness journeys.

I grew grew up in Toowoomba, and moved to the Gold Coast to complete my bachelors degree in Exercise Science (2011) as well as my Doctor of Medicine (2015) at Griffith University.

I began my medical career at Gold Coast University Hospital and there found a love for emergency medicine and medical education. Having been teaching at Bond University, I had made  plans to visit America for a medical education internship in June 2020, however this was derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Unable to leave Brisbane, I began working as a community telehealth doctor and palliative care registrar to help provide care to rural and remote areas of Australia. This uncovered my passion for primary health care and community-based medicine, and prompted me to move out of the hospital system and into General Practice. I never looked back!

I absolutely love working as a GP, and I am so privileged to get to work with my patients and their families towards building healthier, happier lives.  In particular my areas of interest include,

  • Weight management
A large proportion of my GP work is in weight management and I have done extra education in this sphere to help support my patients in their weight loss journey. There's a lot of misinformation, confusion and stress around weight loss and being "healthy". Let me step you through the science of metabolism, weight and fat loss, and help you begin your weight loss journey in a way that's evidence based and well supported.

  • Metabolic syndrome and diabetes
Diabetes and metabolic syndrome is really common. I love complex chronic disease, and it's important that you get regular medical checks if you have risk factors for diabetes. Come talk to me if you think you may have risk factors and would like a check up.

  • Sexual and LGBTQ+ health
It's vital that we are able to talk to our GP's about our sexuality and sexual health because it's an important part of our general health. I try really hard to help my patients feel comfortable speaking to me about what can sometimes be an uncomfortable topic. Whether its sexually transmitted infection screening, HIV prevention, gender identity or contraception, I encourage you to come and have a chat!

Along side GP, I also started my company Sleep Scents. Sleep Scents creates sleep products to make sleep hygiene and bedtime rituals that little bit easier.
